About Grin Computers

Since 1981, the founder of Grin, Chris Copeland, has been playing and working with computers. While Chris was in high school his dad brought home the now classic Vic 20, Commodore 64, and TRS-80 computers complete with cassette tape drives and giant books of code for "installing" new software.

Following high school, Chris worked a brief 2 year stint at Disney World which ignited another passion, customer service. He then attended the renown Full Sail Center for the Recording Arts and received degrees in Recording Engineering and Live Sound Reinforcement.

From there, his life took a surprising turn and he ended up in Texas working as a Youth Minister at a growing church, and youth ministry was his primary vocation for over 20 years. But while the official job title was youth ministry, he continued utilizing his passion and skill with computers and technology. This included designing and installing computer networks, sound systems, graphic design, and even a foray into concert promotion.

In 2000, Chris decided to take a break from youth ministry and received specialized training for computer networking at Southern Methodist University's School of Engineering and Applied Science. Upon graduation he went to work at an upscale private high school as a laptop tech (each of the over 800 students and 200 faculty carried laptops and utilized a sophisticated network throughout the school).

Soon life took another turn and Chris ended up in Upstate New York as...a regional youth minister and camp director. While there he designed, installed and maintained their first server network, as well as overseeing the installation of an extensive phone system and the tying in of all campus buildings via a fiber optic network.

Now retired from youth ministry, Grin Computer Services is letting Chris release his inner geek full-time.
